GRIVAS specializes in designing and manufacturing equipment providing a complete production cycle of lightweight cellular concretes under the trademark GRIVAS Ukraine. For over 18 years, we have been representing our product not only on the Ukrainian market but in many countries all over the world. We are convinced developing and improving are essential aspects of the success of each company. Thus we decided to enlarge the range of our products. Since 2016 our specialists have worked on a topical direction for the construction industry – designing equipment for manufacturing fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) rebars In January 2018, we presented our line under the trademark “LiteCem ARM” for producing FRP rebars. Moreover, manufacturing glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebars “LiteCemStrong” and FRP supports “LiteCemAgro” for plants was established.

Advantages of FRP Rebars

Strength

Tensile strength values of the FRP rebar are 2,5-3 times higher compared to steel rebar of the same diameter

Thermal Resistance

Operational factors remain unchanged in the range from - 70 to +100° C

Low Weight

Weight is 4 times lower compared to the steel rebar, so the cost for loading-unloading works is significantly decreased, and assembling works are much easier for executing

Chemical Resistance

A roving creel for holding bobbins with internal unwinding

A roving creel is a metallic rack designed to hold 60 roving bobbins with internal unwinding. Bobbins are placed in several tiers on the creel.

A unit for drying and impregnating a roving

A unit for pre-drying, impregnating, and wringing out surplus resin is one of the most essential parts of the production line “LiteCem ARM”. A roving dryer is needed to preheat fiberglass yarns before impregnating. Preheating fiberglass yarns will dry out lubricant and surplus moisture of roving; thus, it will positively affect the impregnation quality of roving and, consequently, the quality of a finished product will be significantly improved.

A resin bath is designed to impregnate a fiberglass roving with a polymer binder whose surplus will be further wrung out. Stainless steel structures of the resin bath and a cylinder for impregnating have been specially designed to improve the quality of the FRP rebar and reach maximum effectiveness of production.

The whole line LiteCem ARM is operated and powered with one centralized control panel.

A unit for forming a FRP rebar profile

A forming unit is designed to wind and form the main rod of the FRP rebar by using a basalt winding yarn or a fiberglass roving.

Two external unwinding bobbins with a cardboard core are used for winding and forming yarn.

Replacing bobbins is maximum fast since it requires minimum movements.

A unit for applying a coat to improve adhesion

This unit has been designed to apply a topcoat and to improve adhesion between FRP rebars and concrete.

Before being fed into a polymerization furnace, a FRP rod is covered evenly with fine silica sand, which is used as a surface layer.

After polymerization, sand and the FRP rod will become an integral whole. Fiber reinforced polymer rebars have maximum adhesion with concrete.

A polymerization chamber

A tunnel-like polymerization chamber is designed to heat binding components of a formed FRP rod up to the required temperature.

Each chamber is heated with electrical heating elements. Temperature is measured with sensors set in two zones to provide highly accurate control and withstand an optimal temperature. Controlling is carried out with the centralized control panel.

ВA bath is designed to reduce smoothly a temperature of a FRP rod coming out of the polymerization chamber.

Cooling is carried out with a closed-cycle water circulation generated with a centrifugal pump.

A belt-type pulling device

A belt-type pulling device is used to pull a roving along the whole production line at the preset speed and pressure applied to the FRP rod. A specially designed cantilever-type structure of the device enables threading yarns very fast and starting the production process. A belt of the pulling device is actuated with a gear motor and a chain drive. The pulling device is equipped with electronics to provide a soft start of the gear motor and with a counter transmitting values of the produced length of the FRP rebar to a central control panel.

A cutting device

A cutting device is used to cut FRP rebars. Its cutting mechanism cuts the FRP rebar without stopping a pulling process (i.e., continuously). Controlling and calculating meters are performed with special electronics installed on the pulling device. Operating is carried out with the centralized control panel. Thus the FRP rebar can be cut to length from 1 meter up to 150 meters.

Winding in coils of 50-150 meters is one of the options to pack the FRP rebar. The length depends on a FRP rebar diameter. The diameter of a coil can be adjusted from 1,0 to 1,5 meters.
